And then there were three...

The past year has been a complete flash!  I am going to try to do better documenting what is going on in our Small, (but growing), family. A quick rundown of the past year.  Last April we found out we were pregnant.  We found out on the birthday of my favorite student,  Kingston.  We knew if it was a boy it would be Kingston.  I was certain that it was going to be a girl, but interestingly enough we didn't have a girl name picked out as quickly.  In July we went on a babymoon to NYC.  It was Steven's first time to my favorite city.  In August we found out we would be having a boy.  Steven and I spent months getting ready for his arrival.  Steven painted, added crown molding and baseboards, updated light fixtures, and many other things.  I got to plan the decoration of the room and my mom did all of the bedding.  Kingston arrived on Christmas Eve, a week early, at 9:26 pm.  He was 8 lbs 2 oz and 21 inches long.  He has rocked our world.  He is the best little boy with such a sweet personality.  Here are a few pictures to capture the past year.

We have a picture on the wall of the giraffe my cousin, John, raised.  Kingston loves giraffes already.

This is the chair that Steven's grandmother had in her nursery.

Steven built these and literally finished them before we went to the hospital.  I was having contractions and as soon as he finished we left.

This was my grandmother's great grandmother's chest.  It is over 150 years old and my Grandad rebuilt it.  We added the paint and drawer knobs.

His first Christmas he was just one day old.  It was a snowy day and we spent it just hanging out with our little man.

Uncle Miah loves Kingston!!  He is such a wonderful and proud uncle.  He comes and visits multiple times a week.

We are in love with our precious boy.  He is loving and sweet.  He is rarely fussy and brings so much joy to our Small family.  We couldn't have gotten any luckier.

We took a trip to the Dominican Republic for our 1st Anniversary.  We got a lot of sun and thoroughly enjoyed our time on the beach.  We were able to go with our good friends, the Reeds, who had their first anniversary just 4 days before us.

Life As We Know It

We are on the rooftop at Reata after we had just gotten engaged in front of the Fort Worth Court House.  Apparently, Steven's grandfather married his grandmother at the same court house.  He was in the military and had returned home ready to  get married.  When they got to the Court House they told him that he would need a parent signature because of his age.  He went outside and in the same vicinity as our engagement he asked a woman he didn't know to sign for him.

 This was at Moonshine at one of the events during our wedding week in Austin.

These are two of my students who were the violinists at our wedding, they played the wedding march, at our Rehearsal Dinner at The Oasis.

 Steven's brother, Alan, officiated our ceremony at Vintage Villas on Lake Travis.

 We spent half of our time in Oahu, Hawaii.  This was at a restaurant in Waikiki on our honeymoon.

 We spent the other half on the North Shore in Kauai.

DIY remodel of the media room in our house.  Thanks to my colleagues throwing me a Home Depot Shower we were able to finish this project without spending much money.

My dad, Mike, helping out.  I'm sure he was giving some great advice.  He shared during this project that even though he had not ever been a fix it up kind of guy at home, he really did know a great deal more than he leads on.

Finally finished!

I have finally joined the world of bloggers.  The past year has been a whirlwind!  Just to recap we got engaged 1 year ago, married 8 months ago, went on a honeymoon and began on our adventure in real estate.  It has been very fun and we have learned so much in becoming investors.

In the eight months that we have been married our biggest adventure has been remodeling two houses.  We started with doing a small project in our own home.  We installed new wood floors, painted the walls, and put in Eco-friendly french doors.  We have become addicted to the DIY channel, and an avid follower of Nicole Curtis on Rehab Addict.  If you are in to doing projects yourself check her out at Rehab Addict.  Our first house appeared to be impossible to tackle in my mind, however Steven felt very confident in its' potential.
